This role involves taking calls from those looking for confidential listening support, further information or referral to the centre.

Skills and Qualifications

Any relevant experience offering support to vulnerable groups is preferential but not essential. Good listening skills and good interpersonal skills.

Time Commitment

Two 2 hour duties a month on the helpline and attend one monthly 2 hour supervision session.

Training

Training will be provided and an induction where you will learn more about our history, our work and the role. Helpline Volunteers must be able to complete six sessions of sexual violence awareness training. If at the end of the training we, and you, still feel this is the right role for you you will be paired with a Mentor who will work alongside you for the first three months.

Additional Information

All our Helpline Volunteers undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The Helpline currently runs a the following times Monday 1pm - 3pm, Tuesday 10am - 12pm, Wednesday / Thursday / Friday 7.30pm - 9.30pm and Saturday 4pm - 6pm.
