Jobs

Part-time Adult Independent Sexual Violence Advisor

Salary £21,000-£23,000 (FTE) Dependent on experience & qualifications

STARS Dorset is the only specialist rape crisis service in Dorset supporting victims and survivors of rape and sexual abuse.  We have seen an increase in the number of referrals being received for our specialist services which have grown rapidly over the past two years.  We currently have a vacancy for a part-time ISVA to support adult clients for 22hrs a week worked Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This post is based from our Poole centre but willingness to cover our Dorchester centre is a requirement.

The successful candidate will provide practical and emotional support to clients aged 18yrs and above who have experienced rape, sexual abuse or sexual exploitation at any time during their life. We are looking for a committed individual with initiative and zeal to join our experienced ISVA team. You must be experienced at supporting vulnerable clients and be able to work flexibly to meet our clients’ needs. Knowledge of the criminal justice service would be an advantage.

If you are a dedicated and compassionate practitioner, this is a great opportunity for you to use your experience of supporting vulnerable and often complex individuals to enable them to move on in their lives following the disclosure of sexual violence.  You will provide advocacy and support to our clients and, at times, to their families.  Excellent communication skills with a working knowledge of safeguarding procedures and multi-agency work are essential, as is a commitment to working in a person-centred way.  We are a pan-Dorset charity working across the county therefore this post will involve travel across Dorset and access to a suitable vehicle is essential with business insurance and a full driving licence.

This is an exciting time to join us at STARS Dorset as we continue to grow and develop our services throughout Dorset. We are a supportive organisation providing opportunities to further develop your professional skills and knowledge as well as ongoing support through regular line management and clinical supervision.

We value the diversity of our workforce and welcome applications from all sectors of the community.  Please note we do not accept CVs.

STARS Dorset is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure and acceptable references.

Closing date:      12 noon, Tuesday 2nd March 2021

Interview date:  15/16th March 2021

Start date:           As soon as possible
